St Peter's Church Hednesford is situated on the edge of the Cannock Chase, on the top of Church Hill overlooking the town of Hednesford. There has been a church here since 1868, but the present building has only been on the site since 1987 as the old church was demolished due to mining subsidence.

There has been a church here since 1868, but the present building has only been on the site since 1987 as the old church was demolished due to mining subsidence.
The church is of modern design and construction. There is a remant of the previous church, the apse, still standing, behind the modern church.
The church is an open plan design. The altar, which is not fixed, is placed on a dais beneath a large skylight. There is no decoration behind the dais except for a wooden cross, There are no fixed pews or choir stalls. There are no separate chapels. At the rear south side is a font that is from the original church. On the north side is a modern organ installed when the new church was built. There are a number of IT screen and speakers either side of the dais, controlled by a desk to the left of the dorway from the vestibule.
