The church is a medieval foundation, re-built in 1800 in brick and re-built again completely in 1867 to a design in the Early Decorated style by G.E. Street consisting of nave, chancel, south porch and north aisle. It is built inred sandstone coursed rubble with contrasting cream Grinshill stone quoins, surrounds to the windows, and drip mould. The roofs are plain tiles, and there is a small lead-covered bellcote over the ridge of the nave roof. The font, reredos and pulpit with the chancel wall are also by Street.
