This modern church complex stands in its own large unenclosed plot of land in a quiet residential area of Yeading, formerly a hamlet in the old parish of Hayes, Middlesex and still maintaining a separate identity within the surrounding urban sprawl. Built in 1961 to serve the new housing developing at this time in this previously rural part of Middlesex. The church itself is of little architectural pretension, and consists of a simple gabled box, with north-east Lady chapel opening off it.
Building is open for worship
Ground plan:
Nave and chancel in one, north-east Lady chapel. Ancillary buildings with detached campanile to the north of the church, and church hall adjacent to west end.
Dimensions:
Nave and chancel 20m (61 feet) x 13m (40ft).
Built in 1961 to serve the new housing developing at this time in this previously rural part of Middlesex. The architect was Anthony Lewis, who also designed other churches in the area.
The church itself is of little architectural pretension, and consists of a simple gabled box, with north-east Lady chapel opening off it. The nave has the usual narrow side passages.
The Lady chapel is of the same height as the main part of the church, and is identical in design; the lower windows have stained glass as in the chancel.
The rest of the complex consists of a long low range to the south of the church with two wings reaching towards the car park, with the campanile in front. This gives the building some vertical emphasis. It is square in section with an open belfry stage.
