The clerestory has small quatrefoil windows.

Christ Church was built in 1868 and is designed by the architect John Lowe. Also on the north side are the memorial window and the church war memorial on which are inscribed the names of 96 men of this parish who gave their lives in the 1914-18 war. There is no reference in the church to the 27 men killed in the 1939-45 war. Of note are the stained glass windows. At the South end is the “Tabitha” window erected in 1875 in memory of Alice Maude Dale, the wife of the first vicar. The organ was built in 1897 by James Jepson Binns of Leeds, one of the leading Organ Builders of that period. Some re-ordering of the south aisle has taken place in the 1980’s/90’s to form a chapel or small intimate worship area. In 2014 a substantial re-ordering of the nave was undertaken following the grant of a faculty from the Diocese of Manchester.

The building is of a six bay construction and the bays, which appear at first sight to have identical columns, are on closer inspection, of individual design and beautifully carved. Some careful repair work has been undertaken to one of the columns.

In the nave between the arches are painted designs of angels each bearing an heraldic shield depicting the Lamb of God, the Star of David, the nails from the Cross and others. These are part of the original decoration and have received only minor remedial work since they were painted.
