This church is advanced for its date in style although the plan is typical of the period. It is most likely that the wide transeptal space was terminated originally by a shallow apse. In the 1870's various additions were made (probably by J. Medland Taylor) - a vestry - new chancel and other minor improvements which may have included the stone surround of the west door. The material is coursed yellow sandstone with a rough face used between finer grey stone for groins and architecturalfeatures. The style is well developed Early English with decoration confined to corbels, tall lancet windows singly and in pairs, and slender buttresses. The tower is impressive and has four stages and a tall spire.
