Archaeology
14th century floor tiles found in 19th cent restoration. Font and stone coffins found under nave floor during restoration in 1895.
Steps running east-west below south-east window found in 1895. Trench dug all round church in 1895 to underpin chancel walls and parts of nave walls. Archaeological observation in 2006 recorded foundations and buttresses dating from 12th to 15th cents, including 12th cent chancel, 15th cent bell tower, nave and south porch. Two burials recorded to south of tower, probably predating construction of tower. The NE-SW alignment of these burials is probably the result of overcrowding in a favoured area of the churchyard.
