The original main doorway of the Church has been built up and this can be easily seen in the outside wall at the West end of the Church.
In the Victorian era the Church underwent many changes which are with us to the present day. The Spencer family, owners of the local steel works were benefactors not only to the Parish Church but also the daughter churches of Blucher and Throckley.
The original peal of six bells, Chancel Screen, Pulpit, Brass communion rails and the Lych Gate are their legacy.
