The church is built of stone and roofed with slate. The original building had a simple rectangular nave and chancel both lit by lancets with hood moulds. At some time during the 15th century two larger windows with mullions and a transom were inserted in the south wall of the nave and the east wall of the chancel. The tower may be coeval with these windows; it was most unusually built within the existing nave space and supported on 15th century arches with octagonal piers.
Building is open for worship
Ground plan:
Aisless nave, chancel and south porch; the western tower was built within the space already enclosed by the nave walls.

Late 13th century nave and chancel, 15th century tower with a south porch and western gallery of the 18th century.
The church is built of stone and roofed with slate. The original building had a simple rectangular nave and chancel both lit by lancets with hood moulds. At some time during the 15th century two larger windows with mullions and a transom were inserted in the south wall of the nave and the east wall of the chancel. The tower may be coeval with these windows; it was most unusually built within the existing nave space, and supported on 15th century arches with octagonal piers. It has been suggested that this plan was adopted because if the tower had been built outside in the usual way it would have touched churchyard wall and prevented processions round the church. From outside the tower appears to ride on the roof, rising for one full stage above the ridge. On each face of this stage is a deeply recessed double-light window. The parapet is embattled in a robust way which is out of keeping with the spindly corner pinnacles.
The interior is simple and pleasing. At the west end of the small nave is an 18th century gallery. The walls of the nave still exhibit the vestiages of a painted decorative scheme executed c1350. Above the blocked doorway in the north wall is a wallpainting of St. Christopher, the head of the Saint being defaced by new plaster, although otherwise the work is moderately well preserved. The Saint is clad in a green gipon, an ivory coloured mantle lined with red, and breeches tied at the knee; in' his right hand he holds a staff and bears the child on his left, from whose figure depends a long scroll with an inscription in Lombardic capitals, "KI CEST IMAGE VERRA LE IUR DE MALE MORT NE MURRA". About the Saint's feet is the traditional representation of water, with fish swimming in it, among them a small squid, an eel and a flat-fish. A rough outline of a head was. painted on the new plaster in 1932 to indicate its former position. There are also traces of painting over the south door, but the rest of the scheme has largely disappeared. The chancel arch is body chamfered and rests on attached columns with capitals.
