CHURCH CENTRE
The new Church Centre of All Saints, Dedworth, (whose exterior was shown on the cover of the September ODM) in the parish of Clewer, near Windsor, was dedicated by the Bishop of Reading on June 9, 1973. It replaces Bodley’s small church of 1863 which had become unsafe and beyond repair owing to erosion of the foundations. The architect, Mr. A. J. Monk, was faced with two unusual problems – to counteract the chemicals in the subsoil, and to incorporated stained glass by William Morris, Burne-Jones and Rossetti. The new building, deisgned for pastoral purposes as wella s for worship, it the fuit of prolonged local effort supported through many difficulties by the diocese which has provided £32,000, in addition to a loan, towards the cost amounting to £42,000. The site is ideal to serve this important district of more than 10,000 people.
