13th to 15th centuries, restored in the 19th century, 1850-69, by Sir Gilbert Scott.
The church is cruciform, with a crossing tower and transepts. The chancel is 13th century, and noble both inside and out; crossing tower and transepts date also from the 13th century, but later than the chancel. East of the south transept is the Lady Chapel, added in the early 14th century.

The tower is one of the most impressive points of the building. As seen from inside the crossing it is supported on double-chamfered arches above which is a stage of two twin-openings on all four sides, all much renewed by Scott. In order to reveal the triforium stage, it seems, Scott removed what had previously been the flour of the ringing chamber.
The nave and arcades are probably of the same date as the crossing, and the arcades consist of six bays: the arches are supported on quatrefoil piers with moulded capitals and double-chamfered arches. The west window and the clerestorys are of course Perpendicular, and of this period also are the transverse arches across the aisles and the handsome roofs of the two transepts.
